---BEGIN INTERVIEW---

Are you an avid bird hunter?  Reply:

Will your Brittany be trained to hunt upland birds and will you take the Brittany bird hunting several times every year?  Reply:

IF YOUR ANSWER TO THE FIRST TWO QUESTIONS IS NO, STOP HERE and contact us personally @ 254 725 6217 or consider calling the American Brittany Club Breeder Referral Contact Person for a companion breeder nearest you.

Our waiting list is chronologic and dependent upon mother nature.  The estimated date of delivery that we give you is in fact, an estimate.  A female coming into season, 'taking' upon being bred and size of litter affects delivery date.  You could actually end up waiting 12 months because we have so few litters, some years - none.  If we have not at least offered you a pup within 12 months, you will get a full refund.  If you withdraw prior to 12 months from date of interview received by us you will forfeit your deposit.  We reserve the right to litter choice unless the litter is specified by purchaser prior to deposit.  Litter pick is determined chronologically by order deposit and number of pups of each sex in each litter.  Do you understand and accept this?  Reply:

If you specify a particular litter to obtain a puppy from, we reserve the right to a 24 month wait time instead of 12 months.  Are you specifying one litter in particular?  If so, which one did you verbally request from Dave and Dave only?  Reply:

Have you read this entire puppy page and our puppy FAQ pageReply:

Did you note the 'first right of refusal clause' on the puppy FAQ page Reply:

Do you understand the 'first right of refusal clause' (If no read the next paragraph) Reply:

In the right to first refusal clause do you understand that, if you can't keep your Brittany for any reason, you must give it back to us so that we can place it in another good home under another protective contract.  Do you understand and accept this?   Reply:

Do you understand that you must give the puppy back and that we will only pay for shipping and refund the difference between deposit and puppy price, not started or finished dog prices?  Reply:

We do not always refund a portion of the puppy price as it depends on circumstances.  We will always pay for shipping if needed!  If the dog has extensive training and value, we will place it in a good home that is willing to pay you for such training but we do not guarantee that you will receive any compensation.  Do you understand and accept this?  Reply:

Do you understand that your dog is fully guaranteed in writing against genetic defects?    Reply:

Do you understand that we guarantee, in writing, our puppies to have the desire to hunt?  Reply:

Do you understand that we offer two free weeks of training with each puppy that we sell?   Reply:

Did you know that you can convert the two weeks of free training into a private training clinic if you wish to train your dog yourself?  Reply:

Do you understand that we offer unlimited guidance to families who purchase one of our Brittanys?  Reply:

Do you understand that you could wait up to a year or more for one of our puppies?  Reply:

We are not a puppy mill and only breed 0 to 4 litters per year so the waiting list is often long.  If after 12 months we have not delivered your puppy, we may offer a refund of your deposit, but only after 12 months.  Do you accept this?  Reply:

Please write your full name, address, work/home/cell phone numbers.  Reply:

Why do you want a Brittany?  Reply:

Is the Brittany a gift or for you?  Reply:

Puppies should never be a surprise gift as the owner should be fully aware of our contractual requirements and their responsibilities for the life of the dog.  Do you accept this?  Reply:

Have you ever owned a Brittany?  Reply:

Will the Brittany be a family member and given daily love and attention?    Reply:

Have you checked to see if their are pet ordinances for your home that may disallow Brittanys, pets or an additional pet?  Reply:

Will the Brittany have a safe home/area to play away from traffic and other dangers?  Reply:

What percentage of time in a day will the Brittany live indoors vs. outdoors?  Reply:

If there are young children, will the children be instructed on proper ways to care for their dog?  Reply:

Do you promise not to leave your young children alone with your Brittany so there are no 'accidents'?    Reply:

Did you know that many Brittanys climb fences?  Reply:

Are you prepared to build a safe place for them to prevent them from getting out unsupervised?  Reply:

Most of our Brittanys live indoors a good bit, are you prepared to make the commitment to potty train the puppy properly and humanely?  Reply:

Do you have other pets?  Reply:

If you have other pets/animals, have you considered their interactions with your new pup?  Reply:

Are you willing and able to temporarily or permanently keep separate the new pup from other pets/animals if there are concerns?  Reply:

Will the Brittany be maintained with quality dog food (we feed and recommend Purina Pro Plan)?  Reply:

Will your Brittany receive regular Veterinary health check-ups/vaccinations?  Reply:

Annual Veterinary health check-ups,  proper nutrition, immunizations and the general well being of the Brittany is required in our contract.  Do you accept this?  Reply:

Did you know that a Brittany pup is just as demanding as a toddler?  Reply:   If you have infants/young children, can your family take that added extra pressure?  Reply:

Puppies can often be as much work as an infant child!  We don't recommend puppies for families with an infant.  Is your spouse or significant other ready for the extra work required when caring for a puppy? Reply:

A trained dog is a happy dog and a happy dog lives with a happy family.  Are you willing to make the time and monetary investment to properly train your Brittany?  Reply:

Are you willing to crate train your Brittany?  Reply:

Will you train the Brittany to hunt by yourself?  Reply:

Do you have experience training Brittanys?  Reply:

Will you be taking advantage of our free hunting training?  Reply:

Did you know that Brittanys, while very loving, are energetic and require daily exercise?  Reply:

Did you know that bored Brittanys often chew and dig things you wish they wouldn't?  Reply:

Did you know they shed hair moderately and should be brushed regularly?  Reply:

Will the Brittany be taken hunting every year?    Reply:

Will you agree to terms that includes a 'must return' (first right of refusal) policy whereby if you have a situation arise that you can't keep the Brittany, you must give it back to us so that we can place it under another protective contract Reply:

Are you a breeder?  Reply:

If a breeder, how many litters do you produce per year?  Reply:

Do you follow the ABC and AKC recommended guidelines for breeders?  Reply:

If you are a breeder or plan to breed, what breeds do you currently breed or plan to breed?  Reply:

Do you want to breed the Brittany you are purchasing from us?  Reply:

If you choose to breed the Brittany you purchase from us (if it is permitted and assuming it is sold with a full registration), you should note that the one thing we do not guarantee is breeding ability and believe that breeding is best left in the hand of professionals.  Do you understand and accept this?  Reply:

You should know that our written guarantees are voided once you breed the Brittany you acquired from us.  Reply:

The reason your guarantees are voided is because, as a good breeder, you should wait until your dog is proven, is at least 2 years old and is certified to be in good health by your vet before ever attempting to breed.  When you attempt to breed, you assume all responsibilities of a breeder and your lifetime contract is voided!  Do you understand and accept this?  Reply:

If not a breeder, would you be willing to purchase a pup with a limited registration?  (AKC does not allow dogs with limited registrations to have registered AKC pups but does allow them to compete in some events).  Reply:

Do you participate in field trials, dog shows, hunt tests, etc.?  Reply:

Do you participate in venues such as NAVDHA, NSTRA, AFTCA, A.F., AKC, etc.?  Reply:

Do you have 2 references, one Veterinary and one personal (If you don't have a family vet, then 2 personal references)?  Please list your two references.  Reply:

Are you willing to drive in or fly in to pick up your puppy in person if long distance?  Reply:

Do you understand that puppy price is separate of shipping fees?  Reply:

Shipping fees can be as high as 300.00 dollars.  Are you willing to pay for a quality 'hub to hub' quality airline transport if not picking up in person?  Reply:

We require all fees, including shipping (Shipping is never included with purchase price), be pre-paid at least one week prior to the delivery date.  Do you accept these terms and the terms of our written contract which closely follows this interview?  Reply:

What dominant color do you desire - orange / white or white / orange (first color represents 51 percent or more dominance)?  Reply:

Are you willing to take a less desired color pattern if your preferred color pattern is not available?  WE DO NOT OFFER LIVER, TRI, or BLACK COLORS.  Reply:

What sex pup do you prefer?  Reply:

Will you take the other sex if the preferred sex pup is not available?  Reply:

What qualities do you expect out of your Brittany?  Reply:

What do you want to avoid in a Brittany?  Reply:

What do you expect from us, the breeder?  Reply:

Do you understand that submission of this interview is not guaranteed acceptance?    Reply:

Do you understand that you must submit a surety deposit, if approved, to get on our waiting list? Reply:

Our waiting list is chronologic and dependent upon mother nature.  The estimated date of delivery that we give you is in fact, an estimate.  A female coming into season, 'taking' upon being bred and size of litter affects delivery date.  You could actually end up waiting 12 months.  Reply:

Completing this interview does not guarantee acceptance.  If accepted, a surety deposit is required to get on our waiting list for a Brittany which is usually 6 to 12 months.  Please Be Certain You Are Willing to Wait The Full Period Of Time or you will forfeit your deposit.  Do you understand and accept this:  Reply:

Thank you for completing our interview.  The fact that you completed this lengthy interview, in writing, demonstrates to us that you too care about Brittanys, however, it does not guarantee approval.

Our waiting list is chronologic and dependent upon mother nature.  Estimated date of delivery is in fact an estimate.  A female coming into season, 'taking' upon being bred and size of litter affects delivery date.

Please note:  Our Brittanys are our hunting companions.  We do our best to NOT breed females just before and during hunting season (Sept-Feb), therefore, all litters are bred, born, and delivered within the Spring/Summer/Fall time frame.  Because we breed 0 to 4 litters on average per year, the wait often takes a full 6 to 12 months.  Thanks!

All breeding and puppy announcements are made on the puppy page for those on the waiting list and wanting an update.
